I am Michelle Nichols, LMSW, and have been in private practice as a Christian counselor in the Lansing area for over 13 years. I graduated from Michigan State University with my master's degree in social work in 1997. Prior to private practice, I worked as an in-home family counselor with at-risk families. While also conducting traditional counseling, faith-based is my specialty.
My heart and my passion is to see hearts healed, to help people discover who they are truly meant to be-healthy mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Overcoming obstacles is challenging and takes tremendous courage, but is always worth it! I work with each person individually to determine a style and technique that works best for that person's specific needs and personality. While I am patient and compassionate, I also know that your time is valuable and my style is directive and skill-based.
My prayer is that you walk away feeling like your time was well spent and you gained wisdom, strength and encouragement for your journey. I am excited at the prospect of working with you!
Life is tough. No doubt about it. Sometimes it's downright overwhelming. In these times it is especially beneficial to have someone to help you as you wade through it all. People come to counseling for a variety of reasons. Probably most people who voluntarily come to counseling are looking for some healing and the hope of moving forward with their life. How about you? Do you want to get your "heart" back? Make some changes? Move forward with your life? That's good. I'd like to help you with that.
I have worked with a variety of challenges, though my greatest expertise is in the area of porn/sex addiction, marital issues, depression and anxiety, and ADHD for children and adults. I also have completed a 30-hour course in Counseling Supervision, to assist those who are limited licensed counselors.
I count it an honor, privilege, and humbling opportunity to meet people and help them at such critical periods of their lives.
